Mahy Mourad is a multi-disciplinary designer and researcher based in Cairo. Mahy was trained as an architect and has been lecturing on design and architecture in several universities in Cairo. Mahy has more than 15 years of professional experience in the design field. In 2015 she has founded Studio 39, an interdisciplinary design and research studio. The studio work involves many types of projects that spans public facilities and private developments, new buildings or requalifcation. Mahy holds a Bachelor degree of Architecture and a dual Master’s degree in urbanism and design.

Studio 39 is a multidisciplinary design practice that aims to achieve sustainable compatibility and appropriateness with the surrounding built environment by introducing design solutions that are responsive to specifc sites. The studio create modern designs that take into account the historic and cultural aspects of every site through creative experimental approaches.
